Got to Lake Poway at about 6:30 am. As I was pulling up I saw a car outside the gate with the gate still close. As I pull up to the gate, I saw the sign saying the lake opens at 7:00 am, so I wasn't mad at myself anymore but mad that the lake opens so late. Had no choice though but wait, so sat around talking to other anglers waiting to be let in.
Finally, the gate opened at 7:00 am and got to start fishing. Weather was a liitle cool, drizzling and a little windy. As is walk up to the lake, saw that the water level was up, the highest I've ever seen it. So walk all the way to Boulder Bay and fished there pretty much the whole time. Managed to catch a couple of small bass on dropshot rig using Roboworm MMII on a 7-ft med-light rod, shimano spinnning reel w/6lb flouro.
It was starting to drizzle again, I was wet, cold & hungry so I decided to call it the day around noon. Fishing was tough, with the water level so high there was really not much shore access, would have been great if I was in a boat. But as I always say, any day of fishing is a great day!
